Burberry could have so easily become a drab brand, dedicated solely to peddling plaid scarves and fussy beige trench coats. Instead it’s a glistening showpiece of how to innovate in an industry that largely relies on shock and awe to renew itself. Our love for Burberry is continuously being requited through unique videos and interesting digital efforts. The most recent is their Burberry Kisses program (which to be honest might have been a little better timed for release to the masses back in February, but we’ll take our fashion kisses anytime we can get them).
While Google Chrome users can work this out on their PC’s, Burberry Kisses seem to operate best on the iPad – simply go the page here, kiss in the spot indicated (oddly just trying to swipe your fingers across the screen doesn’t work – you have to kiss it! I hope you’ve been keeping that device covered) choose the lovely Burberry lipstick shade you like best, (Union Red No 17 seems the most fetching to me) and then fill in the to and from parts on the following screen. A fun little animation plays, showing the message floating Neverlandishly to the destination city. I tried New York and saw the Statue of Liberty, and London and saw Big Ben.
When the recipient gets the kiss (they need to open the letter either in a mobile device, or be using Google Chrome) – they see the delivery animation of the message floating from city to city, which is really quite charming. Here are some screen shots and the Burberry video.
